PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
- master different ways of learning and take responsibility for the development of one’s own potential in a lifelong perspective;
- understand tasks or identify the core of a problem, apply various solutions, work independently and in a team;
- apply advanced reading literacy skills to work effectively with information and to critically evaluate and interpret texts;
- communicate in one foreign language at least at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and actively develop one’s own language skills;
- apply scientific, technical, IT and mathematical knowledge, skills and procedures in practical contexts and in solving problems in various areas of life;
- work safely and at an advanced level with digital technologies and their software, and keep up with their development;
- search for, process and critically evaluate information, use algorithmic thinking, communicate and collaborate in online environments, and create digital content and models;
- understand the basic principles of information systems, analyse their structure and functions, design data models and adapt interfaces to user needs;
- be well versed in different social and value systems, as well as social, political, legal and economic processes of everyday life, and demonstrate financial and media literacy;
- adapt to changing social, economic and technological conditions, and make responsible economic decisions;
- strive for the highest quality of one’s own work, services and products in accordance with technological procedures and quality standards;

Vocational competences:
- be conversant with the legal regulations governing the protection of personal data, copyright and related rights in the field of photography and visual creation;
- carry out photography in various genres and settings – architecture, landscape, portrait, reportage, technical and advertising photography – for documentary, exhibition, artistic, scientific and commercial purposes;
- use the appropriate type of camera, lighting equipment and other accessories according to the requirements of the specific photographic genre and the working conditions;
- select appropriate lenses and ancillary equipment with regard to the technical parameters, the characteristics of the optical systems and the intended expressive effect;
- design the concept of the photograph drawing on knowledge of composition, photographic technology, colour theory and the characteristics of the materials used, with regard to the requirements of the commissioning party and the purpose of the photograph;
- capture digital images, edit them using specialist software and perform colour correction, retouching and other adjustments leading to the final form of the photograph;
- select appropriate materials and technological procedures for the processing of photographs – both analogue and digital – and have command of the processing of conventional and digital negatives and positives;
- prepare photographs for output, transfer them to suitable media or into print form, prepare materials for printing or digital publication and ensure their archiving;
- use appropriate work tools, software and studio equipment, together with tools for the management and archiving of photographs;
- take aesthetic and technical considerations into account at every stage of the creation of a photographic work and adhere to the principles of professional conduct in the creative industry.
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE
Graduates of this programme are prepared to pursue a profession in the field of applied, commissioned and artistic photography. Graduates will find employment primarily in the fields of commissioned and advertising photography, in photographic studios, minilabs, the media, newspaper and magazine editorial offices, media agencies, publishing houses, cultural and exhibition institutions, and in scientific and technical workplaces engaged in visual documentation.
Examples of possible positions: photographer, minilab operator, photojournalist, architecture and landscape photographer, photo editing operator, photographic laboratory technician.
