3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

  • master different ways of learning and take responsibility for the development of one’s own potential in a lifelong perspective;
  • understand tasks or identify the core of a problem, apply various solutions, work independently and in a team;
  • apply advanced reading literacy skills to work effectively with information and to critically evaluate and interpret texts; 
  • communicate in one foreign language at least at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and actively develop one’s own language skills;
  • apply scientific, technical, IT and mathematical knowledge, skills and procedures in practical contexts and in solving problems in various areas of life; 
  • work safely and at an advanced level with digital technologies and their software, and keep up with their development; 
  • search for, process and critically evaluate information, use algorithmic thinking, communicate and collaborate in online environments, and create digital content and models; 
  • understand the basic principles of information systems, analyse their structure and functions, design data models and adapt interfaces to user needs; 
  • be well versed in different social and value systems, as well as social, political, legal and economic processes of everyday life, and demonstrate financial and media literacy; 
  • adapt to changing social, economic and technological conditions, and make responsible economic decisions;

Vocational competences:

  • select balanced HW solutions with regard to their function, parameters and suitability for the intended use, identify and resolve hardware issues, perform hardware upgrades;
  • assemble and revive assemblies including peripherals devices;
  • select the appropriate operating system with regard to its intended use;
  • install, configure and manage the operating system in response to the user’s objective needs;
  • design and apply an appropriate data security system protecting data from misuse and destruction;
  • select the appropriate software with regard to its intended use;
  • install, configure, use and manage application software;
  • support users in working with basic and application software;
  • design and implement computer networks with regard to their intended use;
  • configure network elements;
  • administer computer networks;
  • arrange algorithmization of tasks and create applications in a development environment;
  • implement database solutions;
  • create and manage websites;
  • design and implement solutions with respect to cybersecurity principles; 
  • test and verify the quality of programs, including their user interfaces.

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

Depending on the specialization offered by the school, graduates can find employment primarily in the areas of design, implementation and maintenance of HW solutions, programming and development of user, database and web solutions, implementation and administration of networks, maintenance of IT resources, design of suitable systems for data protection and security, sales of IT resources including consulting, general and specialized support for users of IT resources.

Possible occupations for graduates are: programmer (development and maintenance of HW and software applications, websites or mobile applications), computer network administrator, IT technician, database administrator, cybersecurity specialist, information systems analyst, IT equipment dealer, etc.
