3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:

General competences has been acquired under previous education.

Vocational competences:

  • have knowledge of the art history, particularly in relation to the development of artistic craft;
  • use basic art expression techniques for working in the field;
  • read technical drawings and workshop sketches;
  • master processes and traditional techniques for creating and working in the field;
  • set schedule for individual working operations and maintain compliance of separate stages in the workflow in a given material;
  • work in accordance with the various stages of technological processes with emphasis on precision execution;
  • choose the appropriate type of basic and auxiliary materials, prepare a mixture of raw materials and aids for gilding;
  • prepare and modify surfaces for gilding; if necessary complement their missing parts;
  • colour and plate leaf tint on different types of material surfaces;
  • carry out gilding work according to the drawings, to the original designs or graphic designs with appropriate technological processes;
  • carry out final fitting of the products and finish products with regard to the desired functional and aesthetic characteristics;
  • repair and make reconstruction of damaged parts of the original work;
  • use the relevant standards and regulations in the field of conservation;
  • prepare the initial and subsequent documentation for the specific job;
  • service and perform routine maintenance of machinery, equipment, tools and instruments.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed in the field of classical method of gilding, gilding on special substrates from different materials, patina coating, polychrome, repair and renovation of the original work.
Examples of possible jobs: art gilder.
