3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • communicate independently and fluently in mother tongue, give reason for his own attitude;
  • seek out essential information from the text and other sources;
  • understand the task and solve simple problems, find the information necessary for the solution;
  • work or learn under supervision with certain autonomy, apply basic rules and procedures;
  • cooperate with others when solving simple problems and situations;
  • apply basic mathematic skills to solve simple tasks;
  • work with a personal computer and its basic and application software;
  • apply principles of safety and health protection at work, fire protection and fire prevention;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • have a basic knowledge of career opportunities in the labor market and of the job search process.

Vocational competences:

  • operate and check the machines and equipment used in technological operations in chemical production and in other fields of chemical nature within the processing industry;
  • be knowledgeable about various types of raw materials, chemical substances and materials, know their characteristics and methods of use in various fields of chemical manufacturing;
  • follow the prescribed basic operational procedures and processes for the given chemical production and for simple chemical analysis;
  • perform common basic maintenance, cleaning, lubrication and setting of machines and equipment and protect them against corrosion, keep the prescribed basic documentation of the production process;
  • perform quality control on incoming and out-going raw materials, chemical substances, materials and products in various stages of technological processing;
  • perform basic control analysis of incoming raw materials, chemical substances, semi-finished products, products and waste from chemical production, process the analysis results, follow the relevant norms and standard procedures for measuring and for chemical analysis;
  • operate and ensure the serviceability of basic machines and equipment in various types of laboratories.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate may find work in the chemical industry, in various fields of a chemical nature in the processing industry and in various types of chemical laboratories.
Based on their field of expertise, the graduates may perform simple work activities in chemical and processing productions in the field of receiving and internally manipulating with raw materials, materials, half-finished products and products, including basic checks on these productions in a laboratory, or in semi-operational as well as fully operational setting. The graduates may further perform operative and supervisory work on selected mechanico-physical types of production equipment and they may take part in the maintenance of these machines and equipment, especially in cleaning, preservation and protection against corrosion. 
They may find work in the positions of chemists or in type-specific occupations such as rubber worker, plastics worker, laboratory technician etc.
