3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
- master different ways of learning and take responsibility for the development of one’s own potential in a lifelong perspective;
- understand tasks or identify the core of a problem, apply various solutions, work independently and in a team;
- apply reading literacy skills to work effectively with information and to evaluate texts;
- communicate in one foreign language at least at A2+ level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR);
- apply basic scientific, technical, IT and mathematical knowledge, skills and procedures in practical contexts and in solving problems in various areas of life;
- work safely with digital technologies and their software, and keep up with their development;
- search for, process and critically evaluate information, use algorithmic thinking, communicate and collaborate in online environments, and create digital content and simple models;
- understand the basic principles of information systems, analyse their structure and functions;
- be well versed in different social and value systems, as well as social, political, legal and economic processes of everyday life, and demonstrate financial and media literacy;
- adapt to changing social, economic and technological conditions, and make responsible economic decisions;
- strive for the highest quality of one’s own work, services and products in accordance with technological procedures and quality standards;
- observe the principles of occupational health and safety, and fire protection.
Vocational competences:
- carry out the disassembly, repair, assembly and tune-up of motor vehicles;
- inspect shape, dimensions, positioning of parts,electrical parameters, compare these with data established by the manufacturer and then adjust and set the prescribed parameters;
- check and replenish operating fluids;
- perform prescribed warranty and post-warranty inspections;
- carry out basic repairs of vehicle electrical wiring and electrical systems;
- perform functional testing of vehicles on test equipment;
- diagnose the defects of individual functions, aggregates, and elements using common and special meters, measurement instruments, and diagnostic aids, and determine their causes;
- select original and alternative parts, kinematic and fluid mechanisms, electronic elements etc. for eliminate defects;
- perform basic processing of technical materials by hand or machine, including preparation of these materials before processing, select suitable materials and technological processes in carrying out such work;
- select and use machinery, instruments, equipment, assembly tools, preparations and aids, lifts, and other auxiliary systems;
- select and properly apply preparations intended to protect the surfaces of parts against detrimental effects of their environment;
- select and use technical documentation for a given type of vehicle, read and understand technical diagrams, schematics, and tables and determine corresponding parameters;
- maintain intake and follow-up documentation for vehicle repairs;
- prepared to obtain class B and C driver's license.
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE
Graduates are employed in the field of motor vehicle manufacture and repair in mass transit repair shops, service stations, technical inspection stations (MOT test), emissions measurement, etc., in the assembly and disassembly, maintenance, diagnostics, tune-up and replacement of parts, components and aggregates, functional inspections following repairs and tune-ups, recordkeeping of vehicle repairs, and provision of materials and spare parts.
Examples of possible job positions include: car mechanic, mechanic for single track vehicles, truck and bus mechanic, personal vehicle mechanic, tire shop mechanic.
