3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
- master different ways of learning and take responsibility for the development of one’s own potential in a lifelong perspective;
- understand tasks or identify the core of a problem, apply various solutions, work independently and in a team;
- apply reading literacy skills to work effectively with information and to evaluate texts;
- communicate in one foreign language at least at A2+ level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR);
- apply basic scientific, technical, IT and mathematical knowledge, skills and procedures in practical contexts and in solving problems in various areas of life;
- work safely with digital technologies and their software, and keep up with their development;
- search for, process and critically evaluate information, use algorithmic thinking, communicate and collaborate in online environments, and create digital content and simple models;
- understand the basic principles of information systems, analyse their structure and functions;
- be well versed in different social and value systems, as well as social, political, legal and economic processes of everyday life, and demonstrate financial and media literacy;
- adapt to changing social, economic and technological conditions, and make responsible economic decisions;
- strive for the highest quality of one’s own work, services and products in accordance with technological procedures and quality standards;
- observe the principles of occupational health and safety, and fire protection.
Vocational competences:
- perform basic soil tillage, sowing preparation and cultivation of the soil during the vegetation, apply fertilizer and manure;
- sow and plant the main species of cultivated plants, treat plants during vegetation and implement preventive measures against the occurrence of weeds, diseases and pests;
- use plant protection products as a holder of a first-level professional competence certificate in accordance with applicable legislation;
- harvest, perform post-harvest treatment and storage of plant products, fertilizers, chemicals, etc.;
- have a positive and responsible attitude to animals, ensure animal welfare;
- carry out treatment, breeding, rearing and feeding of individual animal species and categories;
- assess health status and implement appropriate preventive measures;
- care for and organise grazing pasture;
- milk and treat milk after milking, properly store and preserve animal products;
- growing plants and raise animals in conditions of organic farming;
- operate, adjust and perform routine maintenance and repair of basic agricultural techniques;
- drive motor vehicles of categories T (tractor), B (passenger car) and C (truck) and perform their maintenance;
- perform administrative activities associated with the operation of the farm, buy seed, feed, fertilizer, livestock, machinery, etc., and develop activities for the application of agricultural products on the market;
- use of counselling regarding manufacturing problems and the possibilities of using the grant system.
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE
Graduates may find employment in primary agricultural production and agricultural services. They may also work in agritourism and landscape management, in fruit and vegetable cultivation, in the processing of plant and animal products within agricultural enterprises, in repair activities, and in agricultural entrepreneurship.
Examples of possible job positions: farmer, crop grower, animal breeder, tractor operator, milker.
