3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

  • master different ways of learning and take responsibility for the development of one’s own potential in a lifelong perspective;
  • understand tasks or identify the core of a problem, apply various solutions, work independently and in a team;
  • apply advanced reading literacy skills to work effectively with information and to critically evaluate and interpret texts; 
  • communicate in one foreign language at level B1 and in another foreign language at the level of at least A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, be motivated to deepen language competences;
  • apply scientific, technical, IT and mathematical knowledge, skills and procedures in practical contexts and in solving problems in various areas of life; 
  • work safely and at an advanced level with digital technologies and their software, and keep up with their development; 
  • search for, process and critically evaluate information, use algorithmic thinking, communicate and collaborate in online environments, and create digital content and models; 
  • understand the basic principles of information systems, analyse their structure and functions, design data models and adapt interfaces to user needs; 
  • be well versed in different social and value systems, as well as social, political, legal and economic processes of everyday life, and demonstrate financial and media literacy;

Vocational competences:

  • use knowledge of psychology and pedagogy in dealing with people and in solving problematic situations; 
  • be physically and personally prepared for service in a security corps; 
  • deal appropriately with clients of different ethnic, religious and social groups; 
  • initiate and conduct criminal and administrative proceedings, particularly concerning criminal offences and misdemeanours, in accordance with their legal qualification and within the scope of the given competences; 
  • carry out the necessary investigations in the case, including the taking of evidence, and keep the relevant documentation; 
  • propose and implement local security measures in cooperation with other components of the Integrated Rescue System; 
  • accept reports and process investigation records; 
  • implement executive measures for the protection of the population in emergency situations in cooperation with the components of the Integrated Rescue System; 
  • provide basic psychological support to victims and refer them to the appropriate social services; 
  • monitor compliance with safety regulations and legal standards; 
  • provide advisory and consultancy services on issues related to the protection of public order and security; 
  • supervise the keeping of records and compliance with archiving and shredding procedures, as well as the management and classification of documentation; 
  • follow the principles of correspondence management in administrative and governance activities, including the protection of personal data; 
  • handle traffic offences; 
  • apply knowledge of the protection of persons and property; 
  • carry out investigations of the actual state of affairs in the field, applying forensic principles and utilizing geographic information; 
  • anticipate the causes and estimate the consequences of criminal activity, and apply the principles of crime prevention. 

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

The graduate will find employment primarily in the Police of the Czech Republic and other security corps, in the municipal police, in the components of the Integrated Rescue System, and in public administration in the field of security or crisis management. The graduate may also find employment in private security services. 
For certain professions, the graduate must meet additional conditions stipulated by law, such as age requirements, specialized professional training, physical and psychological fitness tests, integrity, reliability and other requirements. The graduate may be employed, for example, as a member of the Police of the Czech Republic, a municipal police officer, a member of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, a member of the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic, or a security consultant/officer.
