3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

  • master different ways of learning and take responsibility for the development of one’s own potential in a lifelong perspective; 
  • understand tasks or identify the core of a problem, apply various solutions, work independently and in a team; 
  • apply advanced reading literacy skills to work effectively with information and to critically evaluate and interpret texts;  
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in one foreign language at level B1 and in another foreign language at the level of at least A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and actively develop one’s own language skills; 
  • apply scientific, technical, IT and mathematical knowledge, skills and procedures in practical contexts and in solving problems in various areas of life;  
  • work safely and at an advanced level with digital technologies and their software, and keep up with their development;  
  • search for, process and critically evaluate information, use algorithmic thinking, communicate and collaborate in online environments, and create digital content and models;  
  • understand the basic principles of information systems, analyse their structure and functions, design data models and adapt interfaces to user needs;  
  • be well versed in different social and value systems, as well as social, political, legal and economic processes of everyday life, and demonstrate financial and media literacy;  
  • adapt to changing social, economic and technological conditions, and make responsible economic decisions;  
  • strive for the highest quality of one’s own work, services and products in accordance with technological procedures and quality standards;   
  • choose optimal solutions in real-life work and personal situations based on the interconnection of environmental, economic and social factors; 
  • observe the principles of occupational health and safety, and fire protection. 

Vocational competences:

  • apply theoretical knowledge about education and the education system in the Czech Republic, including the objectives, principles and instruments of educational policy for children and adults; 
  • understand pedagogical disciplines and other fields relevant to educational work and use pedagogical terminology;  
  • master basic research methods in pedagogy, search for and analyse information related to modern pedagogical trends and social demands on education; 
  • apply knowledge and skills from psychology, understand its contribution to the understanding of individuals and society and to educational work with children; 
  • understand the role and activities of school facilities providing leisure-time and interest-based education; 
  • apply knowledge and skills from pedagogy, especially leisure-time pedagogy, when working with children in their leisure time and when providing educational support to children with special educational needs and gifted children; 
  • prepare, implement and evaluate various activities for children’s leisure-time and interest-based activities; 
  • apply the principles of cooperation with other teaching staff and with other professionals or institutions (e.g. cultural or leisure-time organisations); 
  • have advanced knowledge and skills in one of the following specialisations and be able to use them for further study and practice: art education, music education, drama education, physical education and sport, or humanities (sociology, cultural anthropology, media studies). 

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

Graduates are prepared to study at universities and tertiary vocational schools, particularly in pedagogy or social study programmes and programmes corresponding to studied specialisation. 

In accordance with Act No. 563/2004 Sb., on Educational Staff, graduates may be employed as leisure-time educators, performing comprehensive direct educational activities in interest-based education in schools and school facilities for children, or as teaching assistants. They may also find employment in various organisations and institutions providing leisure-time activities for children and, where appropriate, adults.
