3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- take responsibility for completion of tasks in work or study;
- adapt own behaviour to circumstances in solving problems;
- be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
- understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
- communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least A2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
- be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;

Vocational competences:
- be familiar with the norms and technical documents pertaining to the production and refining of glass products;
- know the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
- set up the work place, tools, and glass moulds for the required technical job;
- select raw material for the job as well as the proper technical equipment to work it;
- produce and refine glass products while keeping to the mandatory technological requirements throughout the production process;
- evaluate the quality of semifinished products and of the glass products worked;
- note any potential defects formed during the moulding of the glass;
- set up and maintain the equipment and tools for producing and refining glass products;
- carry out inspection of the quality of both semifinished and finished products;
- follow the principles of effective management with material, energy and equipment.
Focus on glass melting:
- ensure the proper setting, maintenance, and operation when using ladle, open-hearth, and electrical furnaces;
- temper and cool down the furnace;
- work with devices used for measurement and regulation.
