3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
  • take responsibility for completion of tasks in work or study;
  • adapt own behaviour to circumstances in solving problems;
  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least A2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
  • cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
  • be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
  • work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
  • exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • exert norms and prescriptions in the field.
Vocational competences:
  • have knowledge of the art history, particularly in relation to the development of artistic craft;
  • use basic art expression techniques for working in the field;
  • read technical drawings and workshop sketches;
  • decide on the choice of a suitable material for a particular goldsmith and jewellery product and use it efficiently;
  • prepare the material by rolling, drawing, bending and twisting;
  • master processes and traditional techniques for manufacturing products from precious metals, stones and other materials
  • set the schedule for individual working operations and maintain compliance of separate stages in the workflow when working with the material;
  • know specific job-control procedures used in jewellery machines;
  • produce various kinds of casting stones, produce basic kinds of jewellery, rings with one stone, drapes and earrings;
  • produce various types of small chains, brooches and their closures, articulated bracelets including stately homes and fuses;
  • control the production of complex rings and jewels with jewellery technique;
  • carry out surface treatment of products and finalize products with regard to the desired functional and aesthetic characteristics;
  • when manufacturing goldsmith and jewellery work ensure aesthetic design of the final product and precise elaboration;
  • carry out repairs of jewels, use the relevant standards and regulations in the field of hallmarking and conservation;
  • service and perform routine maintenance of machinery, equipment, tools and instruments;
  • prepare the initial and subsequent documentation for the specific job;
  • deal appropriately with the customer.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed in the field of individual and serial production of gold and jewels.
Manufactures and repairs gems and jewellery made of precious metals in combination with precious stones, natural and other materials according to the originals, or artistic design with classic and latest goldsmithing techniques.
Examples of possible jobs: goldsmith and jeweller.
