General competences:
- take responsibility for completion of tasks in work or study;
- adapt own behaviour to circumstances in solving problems;
- be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
- understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
- communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least A2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
- be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;

Vocational competences:
- create hairstyles appropriate for particular types of customers and their needs;
- select a suitable styling based upon the quality and condition of hair in accordance with hygiene regulations, technical processes, aesthetic principles, fashion trends, and new scientific knowledge;
- assess the ability to provide hairdressing services with respect to diseases of the hair and scalp;
- select suitable hair care preparations based upon their attributes and possible use;
- provide various types of scalp massage and to carry out regeneration of hair surface and roots;
- trim hairstyles, shape hair with temporary or permanent waves using electric curling irons or rollers;
- strip hair colour, add highlights by bleaching or dyeing, tone and colour hair;
- alter the appearance of customers (shave beards, modify the shape of moustaches and full beards, dye eyelashes and eyebrows, moustaches and full beards);
- thoroughly adhere to work health and safety regulations and principles of personal hygiene;
- provide consultations;
- keep a prescribed work agenda;
- act in a professional and cultivated manner, adhere to the principles of polite social behaviour
- resolve uncommon or problematic situations with customers, co-workers, and business partners.
