3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
- understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
- communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
- be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
- work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
- exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
- exert norms and prescriptions in the field.
Vocational competences:
- apply aesthetic principles of printing production (have knowledge of art history and creative graphic techniques, of application of the expressive possibilities of colour and light, of creative approach when fitting bindings etc.);
- apply an overview of the printing production, machines and equipment in the printing industry and applied technologies, have knowledge of the printing techniques;
- process order, work out economic calculation and process technological advancement;
- ensure technological preparation of mercantile and common book-binding products, choose technological procedures, work with visual design and technical documentation, use appropriate means of expression in the creation of designs and models, respect the relevant printing standards;
- distinguish between types of paper, cardboard and paperboard, determine materials for bookbinding and printing production, have knowledge of basic chemical and metal substances used in the printing industry;
- assess the properties of used materials, store materials, have knowledge of basic printing principles, work with quality font groups and use appropriate types of font with regards to bookbinding;
- have knowledge of the trends in today´s document creation, choose ways of processing with regards to the technical and programmatic options;
- choose appropriate work equipment, tools, software for specific workflows throughout the whole process of creation;
- use various types of materials, apply prescribed methods of storage and manipulation with materials;
- handle basic production of bookbinding, basic and special printing techniques and technologies, comply with the technological discipline, carry out graphic design of bindings;
- keep the parameters of individual product types, perform perfectly work done at a high level and perform input, process and output control;
- carry out work throughout the whole process of creation, implement the processing of products including quality control.
